What this site keeps, and what it doesn't.

The short version
- This site sets no cookies.
- There is no advertising tracking — no Meta pixel, no Google Analytics, nothing that follows you to other sites.
- Your email is only collected if you type it into a signup box, and it is never sold or rented to anyone.
- You can unsubscribe from any email in one click, or ask for your details to be deleted.
What gets collected
When you sign up
If you use one of the signup boxes — the dough recipe, drop alerts or merch updates — we keep:
- your email address;
- your ZIP code, if you choose to give it;
- which box you used, so you only hear about the thing you asked for.
The ZIP code is used for one thing: working out whether you are near enough to San Diego to pick up a pizza. It means pickup announcements only go to people who can actually collect one, and everyone else just hears about the things that reach them anywhere.
When you browse
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. It records things like which page was viewed, which site you came from, your country, and your general device and browser type. It also counts clicks on links out to Hotplate and other shops, and successful signups. It does not use cookies and is not built to identify you personally or follow you around the web.
Behind the scenes
Like any website host, Vercel handles your IP address in order to deliver pages to you. The signup form also uses it to block repeated automated attempts; that check is held in memory for about a minute and is not stored.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner to click through.
It does keep one small note in your browser for the length of your visit: the name of the link that brought you here, for example from TikTok or Instagram. When you then click through to order on Hotplate, that link carries the platform name, so AJ can tell which app actually sends people who buy. It contains nothing personal and is erased when you close the tab.
Who handles it
- Vercel hosts the site and runs the visit counting.
- Kit stores the email list and sends the emails.
Both are US-based services that process this data on AJ’s behalf. Neither is allowed to use it for their own advertising.
Other sites this one links to
Ordering and payment happen entirely on Hotplate. This site never sees your card, your order, or your phone number — Hotplate’s own privacy policy covers all of that.
Some links on the Setup page, to Amazon and Baking Steel, are affiliate links: AJ may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Those sites, and the social apps linked from here, have their own privacy policies, which apply once you arrive.
Your choices
- Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list.
- Wherever you live, you can email to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted.
- You can sign up without giving a ZIP code.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, get in touch and it will be removed.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything that meaningfully changes how your information is used will be made clear before it takes effect.
